The leather and footwear sector achieved export revenue exceeding USD 14 billion in the first half of 2025, with footwear contributing approximately USD 12 billion, marking a 10.1% year-on-year increase. For the full year 2024, total footwear and leather exports reached USD 27.04 billion, rising 11.45% compared to 2023. Annual output capacity is estimated at 1.4 billion pairs of shoes, with nearly 1.3 billion pairs shipped abroad. In 2024 alone, footwear exports were valued at USD 23.8 billion, consolidating the industry’s global ranking among the top exporters.

The United States consistently accounts for around 31–35% of total shipments, followed by the European Union and Japan. By product category, sports shoes represent nearly 60% of total footwear exports, while leather shoes, sandals, and canvas footwear make up the remainder. Employment in the sector exceeds 1.2 million workers, supported by more than 2,000 enterprises operating nationwide. Export growth has remained steady at double-digit annual rates in recent years, highlighting strong production resilience and responsiveness to global demand for both footwear and sportswear.
