Strong manufacturing capacity and export-oriented strategy have positioned Vietnam as a key supplier of mechanical engineering products in Asia. In 2024, the machinery and mechanical appliances sector—covering engines, pumps, gearboxes, and industrial tools—reached export revenues of US $23.5 billion, accounting for 5.7 % of total goods exports. Total merchandise exports for the year hit approximately US $403.2 billion, rising about 6.4 % year-on-year.

Key markets such as the U.S., China, and the EU absorb a large share of Vietnam’s machinery goods, benefiting from preferential trade agreements and logistics improvements. By partnering with established Vietnamese engineering firms, global buyers gain access to scalable manufacturing, regional sourcing clusters, and nearshore supply chain resilience. Continuously improving certification capacity (ISO, CE, TÜV) and modular design services further strengthen Vietnam’s value proposition in mechanical engineering exports.
