AQUATIC & SEA PRODUCTS
Aquatic and seafood exports remain a central pillar of trade, supplying a wide variety of products including shrimp, pangasius, tuna, crab, squid, and mollusks to major markets worldwide. In 2023, export turnover of seafood reached approximately USD 9.2 billion, with shrimp contributing around USD 3.4 billion and pangasius bringing in close to USD 1.8 billion.
The United States, China, Japan, and the European Union stand as the largest destinations, collectively accounting for more than 60% of total shipments. Industry reports show the aquaculture sector operates with over 7,500 processing facilities and farming areas exceeding 1.3 million hectares, ensuring a steady supply capacity for global demand. Strict compliance with international standards such as HACCP, ASC, BAP, and GlobalGAP has enhanced the reputation of suppliers, making the industry a reliable sourcing base for importers and distributors. Ongoing investment in cold storage, logistics, and sustainable farming practices is expected to maintain competitiveness, while free trade agreements continue to reduce tariffs, opening greater opportunities for seafood exports in both traditional and emerging markets.
